Accredited SFX Makeup Training
The Accredited SFX Makeup Training course at KO Studio is an immersive five-day program that teaches the essential techniques of special effects makeup. Under Kelly’s expert guidance, you’ll explore how to create imaginative and realistic FX looks. This course provides a solid foundation in special effects, covering sculpting, mould-making, and prosthetic application.
Throughout the five days, you will practice sculpting, creating two-part and flat moulds, and applying foam latex, rubber latex, silicone prosthetics, and airbrush techniques. Check out this video to see what one of our prosthetic creation sessions looks like.

Course Schedule:
The typical schedule is:
- Day 1 & 2: Sculpting the look
- Day 3: Mould preparation
- Day 4: Creating the prosthetic pieces
- Day 5: Applying the pieces
We understand that each learner’s needs may differ, so we can adjust the schedule to ensure it suits your pace and goals.
This course is ideal for those eager to learn the craft of SFX makeup. Creativity, fast learning, and dedication are key to succeeding in this course. No prior experience is required, but enthusiasm is essential! We also offer Klarna and Clearpay options to help with payments.

Course Recommendations:
On the final day, when applying your prosthetic piece, it’s recommended to bring a model to help you fully experience the application process. If you’re unable to provide a model, we’ll do our best to arrange one for you.
Additional Information:
While it’s recommended to bring your own makeup kit and brushes for the course, it’s not mandatory as KO Studio is fully equipped. The course also covers important aspects like contraindications, hygiene, and safety protocols in the workplace. We’ll tailor the course to meet your individual learning needs, whether you’re a beginner or refining your skills.

With 15 years of experience, Kelly Odell is an award-winning makeup artist and Level 3 AET-certified instructor. Specializing in bridal, special occasion, special effects, and festival makeup, Kelly works from her creative KO Studio, offering lessons and crafting custom prosthetics for TV, film, and fancy dress parties. Her work has been featured on ITV, Sky Atlantic, and “RuPaul’s Drag Race. For the past 6 years, Kelly has been a dedicated mentor, teaching students at Leicester College, helping them hone their skills in the makeup industry. Kelly’s expertise will guide you at every step of your makeup journey.
